Default RAM problem

Hello,

Today i bought 2x1gig RAM sticks 400mhz (PNY) and i got them in and started up my computer then it freezes...rebooted again, still did it, and to be on the safe side rebooted one more time but still froze

I have a Kn1 Lite Mother board...it says it has 4 DIMM RAM slots
DIMM1 and DIMM2 slots are colored BLUE
and DIMM3 and DIMM4 are yellow

in the DIMM1 and DIMM2 slots i have 512 ram sticks (Kingston)

I put my new ones in the DIMM3 and DIMM4

I thought it was the new sticks being bad so i took out the 512ram and stuck the new ones in (right as im typing this i have the 2x1 gig ones in)

but right now i cant seem to fit the kingston ram sticks in DIMM3 or DIMM4....i try so hard to stick them in but i dont want to break anything..

How come my computer crashes with 512 in DIMM1 and DIMM2 , 2x1gig in DIMM3 and DIMM4, or how come the kingstons wont fit in DIMM3 or DIMM4? I would like to have 3 gigs of ram,,,,

Thanks....sorry for english

Hi,

There is some detailed information for you in section 2.2 and 2.3 in your manual here: http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Dow...eaid=2&LanID=9

...seems the board is quite particular about the type of RAM installed.

Your motherboard offers dual-channel. To benefit from the performance advantages offered by dual-channel systems, you should install memory in identical pairs. Installing a kitted pair is the best way to ensure that your modules are identical, right down to the chip count.
Each memory slot can hold DDR PC3200,DDR PC2700,DDR PC4000 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
What are the 512 sticks? And the 1Gig sticks are?
Did you try to put the newer ones in DIMM1 & DIMM2 ?

Kingston DDR 512mb PC3700 400mzh x2 (OLD)
PNY DDR 1gigmb PC3700 400mzh x2 (Bought yesterday)

Before i bought the PNY i had the kingstons in DIMM1 and DIMM2
I got home installed the PNY in DIMM3 and DIMM4
Booted up my computer, it gets to desktop then 3-5 secs later it freezes..Cant move the mouse or Ctrl+ATL+DEL

Next step is i took the kingstons out and put the pny in DIMM1 and DIMM2 which works fine and im using right now

Then i tried using the Kingstons in DIMM3 and DIMM4...boot up my computer and it hangs out my
KN1 LITE boot screen

there isnt any blue screen of death or anything

Any other details im missing from the ram?

thanks
