hi guys,
i juz slot in another 2 pic of RAM i bought 2day, so total will me 4GB, however, when i start up, it says bios checksum error, and whenever i loaded into windows, the RAM onli shows 3.25GB... any 1 can help me?
Thank You
what operating system do you have? vista 32 bit wont show all 4 gb. in my system when i place 4 gigs in it only reads 3071kb or 3.071gb in the system info. One of the techs at microcenter told me its because vista 32 bit will only recognize that much. you need 64 bit version to see past what you see now. and when i boot to windows xp it ony shows 3gb period. so i think thats all youre gonna get out of four gb. if youre running 64 bit version then i have no idea
no. The OS can only use 3.25GB of the memory. It doesnt see the rest at all. Its just one of the limitations of 32bit Operating systems. But the extra 1.25GB of memory you do gain, will help significantly, especially if your running vista
yeah i only run three out of the four 1gb ram chips i have because i see no point in keeping another one in just to gain .25 so i keep the fourth as a spair.
