Hi,

I have a USB memory stick that has just decided not to work, my friend thinks there should be power still getting to it. He was trying to remember the type of software that allows you to bypass Windows and view the drive and even copy the info across. This is urgent as it contains most of my college work, I have half of it backed up, but have done a lot over last 3 days and have not got back ups as I was using a number of computers.

Before we use any kind of software, we first need to find out what's wrong with it. If you go to Control Panel, Computer Management, Storage > Removable Storage > Media. Do you see your USB pen listed here?

I have no computer management option in my control panel, there was a portable media device option though, i use windows XP (home i think).
I couldn't find it anywhere earlier though and the light has stopped working on it.

Go to control panel - Administrative Tools and computer management should be there
