Hello Becky1974,
I'm guessing you are inquiring about USB flash memory. As far as the difference between 1, 2, and SATA...I don't exactly know how you got those terms if you were looking for a thumb drive.
Pretty much any thumb drive (USB flash memory drive) you get now is going to be USB 2.0. It is a little device that plugs into your USB port and gives you a certain amount of storage space.
If you need a comparison of space this is what you can go by:
1 Floppy disk holds 1.44 Megabytes
1 CD disk holds 650 Megabytes
1 DVD disk holds 4.7 Gigabytes
So basically if you are using a Windows XP computer, you should be looking for a USB 2.0 flash drive that holds the amount of space you are wanting. Right now at a retailer, you can get a 4 Gigabyte flash drive for around 50 dollars USD.
Here is a Best Buy link that shows you pretty much all of the latest available models. Maybe you can use it as a reference to search Ebay for. It will also give you a good idea of what you should be paying -

Hope that helps!
