Default Don't know what ram to buy!

Hey guys.

I have a Pakard Bell EASYNOTE SW51-B-012 and it is running 2x512mb ram sticks.

This is what is says on the Pakard Bell website about the ram on my laptop:

System Memory: DDR2
  • SO-DIMM (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module), 2 banks.
  • Supports 2 GB RAM (max.), using 1 GB DDR2 SO-DIMMs.
  • Supports DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 memory modules.
  • Supports Dual Channel operation
I have checked if it will work on my motherboard and it will and I want to buy 2 sticks of 1gb ram for it so I have 2gb of ram, but I have no idea what to buy and how much I should spend.

Thanks for any help.

edit - would 2 sticks of this be ok: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NBM-67%2F1G

I think i am right in saying that if the new ram has the same speed (mhz) and its the same compatible model (ddr,ddr2,ddr3) then it should be fine, so unless you are considering getting rid of the old ram (considering it is ddr2667) then there is no point in getting hugely expensive top of the range ram, because if you have really old rubbish ram then adding some good new ram in will do nothing.

So I just replace the 2 sticks of 512, with 2 sticks of that 1gb right?

Yes, 2 x 1GB Module (PC2-5300) DDR2 SODIMM - see if you can buy a "matched pair" - the sales company will know what you mean
