Default memory upgrade

Hi guys ive just installed 2x512 ddr memory into my pc wich already had 2x256 making 1.5gig pc recognised it and all seemed well but then went to play a game on pc and tried to load saved game and it said there is not enough memory?
please help
ive re-installed game but no change?should i leave the 2x256 out?

what game is this? also what OS? what kind of memory do you have? DDR? DDR2? SDRAM? what? that could potentially make a difference. first thing though, i would try running just the 2 512MB sticks, if your motherboard supports it, run in dual channel (install the DIMMs in same colored slots)
