I have two 1g sticks of corsair ram 667mhz.

I am this weekend buying another 2 sticks to make a grand total of 4gig, what i would like to know is if filling all 4 slots will make a difference in a good way to the way the dual channel works? will the access speeds be quicker eg, 2 banks on, 2 banks off etc. thanks

Hello Unique,

Having all 4 banks filled will not make any impact on performance. However, one thing to note is, unless you are using a 64 bit version of Windows, Windows will only recognize 3.12 gigs of memory. Here is an article - The amount of RAM reported by the System Properties dialog box and the System Information tool is less than you expect after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2

It is not going to hurt anything however. If you don't plan on going to 64 bit anytime soon, I would just get two sticks of 512 to get a total of 3 gigs.

Hope that helps!

Could you use "compatibilty mode" to run 32-bit apps in XP 64 bit?

Vista x64-- I'd wait-- there are enough issues with Vista 32-- finding drivers for 64-- would be real tough IMO
