Default Comp not registering all 4 gigs of RAM

I just upgraded from 2x 512mb of ram, 184 pin to 4x 1gb DDR-400 G-Skill RAM, 184 pin. When I check to see what I am running at it only registers about 3300mb of RAM? I am running 32bit Vista Home. I have a 2.2ghz AMD processor dual core 3800+ with a MSI I believe its a K9 series mobo with an Nforce 4 chipset, and an 8600GTS graphics card. Is there any reason why it is not recognizing all of my RAM and is there a way to change it so that it will recognize it? The board is supposed to handle 8gigs I believe. Thanks.

Joe

hmm... there is always less memory shown that there actually is.. but 700mb seems like an awful lot to lose... hmm... let me do a little searching. in the meantime, i reccomend you run memtest 86 overnight and see if you get any errors

have u tried installing 3 gig and seeing what it comes up as, i recommend installing one stick at a time and see what each stick registers as. If its simply a crook stick of ram you will most likely find it by checking each stick on its lonesome, time consuming, but fun? hehe

I thought 32Bit Os's could only support 3.5Gb of ram?I found this Article.I suggest you read it.If you

want all 4Gb seen you need a 64Bit operating system.

1024Mb is 1Gb of ram. That times 3.5 is 3584.Around what it can see.
