Hi all.
Found out yesterday that my
RAM was faulty...
Ive been getting
BSOD's for a couple of weeks now. and it was only last night i decided to look into it further and run a Memtest. i feared the worse and the worse happend. each module (4 of em) are faulty. Memtest immediatly turns up errors. hundreds of them.
I think maybe this has happend because of heat issues. when i took the modules out they were VERY hot. so hot in fact i couldn't hold them for long......whats odd is that my
ram has been UNDERCLOCKED to meet my
CPU mutlipliers overclock (voltages havn't been touched. all left for BIOS to handle) and its been like this for a good 4 months....
I rang Crucial in the hopes of getting replacement modules under the warranty. Crucial were very good, they immediatly gave me a RMA and told me to send all four faulty modules in the post...
Due to the postal strike, i wont be sending them till Wednesday. i use my pc very frequently and even a couple of days without it will seem like a couple of months.....i know i shouldn't use the faulty
RAM as it could spread errors (please correct me if i'm wrong) but don't you think it'll be ok so long as i dont do anything stressful? (gaming..) or anything delicate like updating the Operating System or any other component...?
Could this get any worse?, something tells me yeah. as i had my memory underclocked it seems odd how they've all just failed....perhaps this is a problem with my motherboard....?
Any advice is very welcome

.
Thanks.
Edit--
Is it worth buying one of these?:
Corsair Memory Cooler (Dominator Fan)
Thanks again
