Default Faulty Ballistix RAM

Hi all.

Found out yesterday that my RAM was faulty...

Ive been getting BSOD's for a couple of weeks now. and it was only last night i decided to look into it further and run a Memtest. i feared the worse and the worse happend. each module (4 of em) are faulty. Memtest immediatly turns up errors. hundreds of them.

I think maybe this has happend because of heat issues. when i took the modules out they were VERY hot. so hot in fact i couldn't hold them for long......whats odd is that my ram has been UNDERCLOCKED to meet my CPU mutlipliers overclock (voltages havn't been touched. all left for BIOS to handle) and its been like this for a good 4 months....

I rang Crucial in the hopes of getting replacement modules under the warranty. Crucial were very good, they immediatly gave me a RMA and told me to send all four faulty modules in the post...

Due to the postal strike, i wont be sending them till Wednesday. i use my pc very frequently and even a couple of days without it will seem like a couple of months.....i know i shouldn't use the faulty RAM as it could spread errors (please correct me if i'm wrong) but don't you think it'll be ok so long as i dont do anything stressful? (gaming..) or anything delicate like updating the Operating System or any other component...?

Could this get any worse?, something tells me yeah. as i had my memory underclocked it seems odd how they've all just failed....perhaps this is a problem with my motherboard....?

Any advice is very welcome .

Thanks.

Edit--

Is it worth buying one of these?:

Corsair Memory Cooler (Dominator Fan)

Thanks again

Asus commando;

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

No idea about the serial though. think it might have the serial on the box but the box is stashed away and i wont be able to get at it till later this evening.

Running BIOS version 1501. latest to date.

As for ram, I have mixed speeds. two clocked at 1000mhz (pc28000) and two clocked at 1066mhz (pc28500)

Yep. ive actually only got two installed right now. these two, at first, didn't produce any errors in Memtest. but i left it overnight and awoke to errors this morning.

Now when i run a memtest, they both immediatly give errors. its quite odd......

Do you have any memory sticks that are DDR 800?It might not support being underclocked.
