Default [Fixed] memory problems?

if i have a game open (but minimized on teh desktop) and try to do other things on my pc (like right click a messnger icon the on the taskbar to sign out of it) right clicking does nothing (i.e the menu doesnt pop up) or if i try to double click on someoen name to bring up the IM box to talk to them it wont work... same for trying to copy something (using right click) after i highlight it (but ctrl + c works) or click on a hyperlink which would open in a new window...

the only way things start wokring again is if i close what i had minimized on teh desktop (teh game) then everything starts workin normally? Is tha a memory problem or is somethin wrong with my pc? I mean the specs arent that old and Ive seen pepople with well over 20 windows open and everything still functions properly.. so im kinda wondering if something just isnt working as it should be.

Hello AntoineJones,

How are you minimizing your game?

What I believe is happening is even though your game is minimized, it is still acting like it is in full screen mode. It really is nothing to worry about.

When the game is minimized, try holding ALT + TAB to bring up the program switching window. Switch to another running program by pressing tab until the program you want is highlighted, then try doing stuff on your desktop. If no other program is listed, just try hitting ALT+TAB once right after you minimize the game.

You can also try hitting CTRL + Escape once the game is minimized to bring up your start menu which should bring your desktop to the front.

Hope that helps!

I assure you you don't have any hardware problems. Do you have any other games you can try minimizing?

I've had similar issues with some games. When I play Tiberium Wars, I can't even get to the desktop with the game open.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. If you weren't able to minimize internet explorer or something like that, then that would be an issue

If you really think you have some memory issue, you can download Memtest86 (click my link) and create a boot CD. Boot to that disk and it will automatically start the memory test. Just let it run through one full pass and see if there are any errors.

well i was thinking more along teh lines of too much memory being used than an actual error with the memory itself

another thing ive noticed... with the geame minimized.. i open yahoo messenger and bring up a IM chatbowx to talk to somoeone.. it works fine.. so i open up internet explloere.. teh home page loads fine... then a create a tab... teh second tabs homepage loads fine... then i create a 3rd tab... thi tab just stays theer on "connecting" indefiniately and teh 3rd page neve loads (though nothing is frozen) well whether its a memory proboem or not Im sure this isnt normal lol

Edit: mayeb teh problem isnt teh game after all.. i just closed the game down completely then pulled up my yahoo and double cliced on soemone on my buddy lisst name and no chat window popped up, i i also tried making multiple tabs with teh IE window that was already up at the time and i had teh same problem as above, so i closed IE down too.. then i double clicked on the IE icon and the usual mouse hourglass icon popped up for a second but IE browser never came up, tried again multiple times same results, so then i tried ctrl + alt + del to get the task manager up.. and that didnt work either (had the exact same problem as with wne i tried to open IE) so finally i closed down and signed out of yahoo, thus no programs are running, double clicked IE it open fine, started multiple tabs they worked fine, used ctrl atl delete task maagner popped up fine.. yup somethings definitely up with this pc lol
