Red face is high speed ram workable?

hi all
am in abit of a quandry...
got just about the best build you can get at mo, really went for it..
striker extreme 1305bios (replaced evga 680i due to 2 faulty ones) have to use 680i boards for the 1333 fsb of the processor and be able to run sli....
qx 6850
4gb ocz 1066sli ddr2
1kw enermax galaxy Power Supply Unit
2 150gb raptors
1 160gb deskstar
2 x evga 8800 ultra superclocked in sli (or will be when i get 1 faulty one replaced)
swiftech watercooling for cpu. keeps it at 28-30c at 3333

ok had probs with the ddr2 since 1st build,
thought to buy one of the quickest rams about to go with the 1333fsb.
prob the 680i chipset doesn't like putting the 2.3v needed by ram to run at rated speeds..
getting lock ups and no boots.
spoke to evga support rep and he said there's a history of instability with the 680i boards running high volts to the ram.
with evga board i had to continually remove ram to get it to boot... bit annoying when you want to check email quickly....
and now with striker board will get non boots if i run memory at 1066,
got it stable at last running it at 888 at 2.125v and with 444 15 timings but still the performance seems laggy..

so have been so cheesed off, just want to set this machine up, have it stable and play everything at highest settings have ordered 4gb ocz 800 reaper edition timings are 433 15 at 2v.

but has anyone out there had 4gb high speed ram 1066 or greater working on these 680i boards without issues?

also is it going to effect the potential performane dropping down to the 800 but with tighter timings?

not sure if the memory may be damaged, that may be causing instability and lock ups... have used the memory diagnostic in vista and no probs detected though.
aslo have memtest86+ on a bootable cd have tryed it but didn't really know how to use it.

btw am dual booting xp mce2005 and vista ultimate 64bit (this is why i need 4gb ram, likes memory does vista 64 seems to use half a gig most of the the time just on the desktop)

any thoughts appreciated.
