What is the exact Model of your motherboard
What is the Brand-name of the
RAM
If you need help-- look in my sig-- for the System Info Utility.
You could also try running the
RAM upgrade scanner -- see what it comes up with.
You should not have to reinstall Windows in order to install
RAM.
Another thing to try... remove the new
RAM and re-seat it carefully to make sure it is fully seated. Check your video-card too-- I have bumped things during installs -- and jarred it just enough to unseat it
