Not necessarily-- Either the RAM you got is bad (it happens)
-- or it's not compatible with your Mobo.

You have an Asrock board-- but there's no model listed

What's the Brand-name of the RAM ??

Does the RAM show up under "system resources" ?

OK-- deeep breaths...

What is the exact Model of your motherboard
What is the Brand-name of the RAM

If you need help-- look in my sig-- for the System Info Utility.
You could also try running the RAM upgrade scanner -- see what it comes up with.

You should not have to reinstall Windows in order to install RAM.

Another thing to try... remove the new RAM and re-seat it carefully to make sure it is fully seated. Check your video-card too-- I have bumped things during installs -- and jarred it just enough to unseat it

If you have formatted--and everything is still crashing-- I would highly suspect that RAM-- your PC ran before you installed it, did it not ?

There is a link to a RAM-tester in my sig-- if you want to test it....
you make a "bootable floppy" of the program- and just let it run a couple of hours... any errors will show. If it's only a few-- it's OK.
