Default Ebay Memory Compatibility Problem?

Hi. My computer is a HP a0708.uk. I bought 1 Gb of memory from ebay. The seller said that the memory is compatible with my chipset (SIS 661FX). When I put the memory in one of the slots (512 in the other) the computer starts up, but then almost straight away restarts itself. I also tried it with just the new memory in the computer. It will only get as far as windows if it's started in safe mode. The memory I bought is here...

Oye,

Well I googled around and the SIS 661FX chip is indeed compatible with DDR400, so I'm guessing you just bought damaged RAM then

If it turns out you bought damaged RAM, and the seller claims it was working, file a SNAD (significantly not as described) dispute with eBay and it is likely you will get your money back.
