Default Windows does not detect extra installed ram

I got thes 512 RAM CARDS from kingston.com. each card is 512 RAM i bought two and put them in the empty 1 and 3 ram slots. I have windows vista. Windows still says i have 512 mb memory left. other than that everything is working great but it should say 1 gb 512 mb of ram now that i have added 2. what should i do??????? thanks for help in advance.

Hi remove all the RAM in the PC and try the new ones buy them self in the PC duz it display the right amount of RAM?

Could be an compatablitiy issue with you existing RAM this is the only way to tell it will not be due to a driver most likely RAM or mainboard issue maybe a bios update but I would do what I said first to isolate the problem

Also some mobo's don't allow 3 sticks of RAM - you have to do 1, 2 or 4 - so it's well worth checking your mobo manual out to see what it says.

I'm with madmatt on this - try each one individually first to prove they do/don't work and then go with 2, then 3.
