I would go with the 1 GB of DDR400 because it will make a difference. 1 GB with XP Home should be more than enough.

Hope this helps,
Adam

Edit: Just make sure to have it setup for Dual-Channel because that makes a difference too.

yeah i thought so too. but, i plan on playing games, the most demanding of which is ES4 obliivon. i know that it is a memory hog, and im trying to figure out, i ran memory bandwith tests with both setups. 2 @333 came out about 3850MB/s, 1 @400 came out at about 4400MB/s. (oh, and i arctic silvered the CPU because it was running **** hot.

I'd say 2gb at 333
You won't notice the difference of speed, but you will notice the difference in capacity.

ok. thanks. C&C 3 will probably like some more memory too. it used all but 30 megs of physical memory.

im just worried about when i get my 6600GT back from BFG, that the slower RAM will cause a bottleneck. Does PCIe include Fastwrites-like features? (i.e. direct CPU-GPU connect) i know that if it does, that will probably ease memory load a bit.
