I got a few users that throw around 3-5 gig pdf files (5 or 6 foot long seismic imaging of the ocean floor) that are of course in color, and when they fire that up, you can almost hear the
ram getting sucked up.....I've moved all the page files to a different drive I installed specifically for that (just like a 4 or 5 gig hd, there's only about 6 of these users and we got about 50 dell gx 110's laying around) and that helped a bit, but really, those guys are pretty much screwed. I feel for them, because if you chop the job up, you'll be there until midnight every day, but doing it as it is just kills your machine.
Every week they all run ATF and it cleans out something like 2 or 3 gigs of stuff adobe's left behind....they are all on smokin' hot rigs, too, but the only *real* solution for that problem is to throw
ram at it, and we've got them all maxed at 4 gigs, and each has at LEAST a 4 gig page file, and it still bogs.
Oh well. Least I know who's getting Vista in my company first. Looking forward to tossing 10 gigs in and seeing what happens then. Betcha they like it for a week, then want to print 12 foot long sheets or something.
