i have tried everything. my RAM is 2-512-MB DIMMS. running at 147mhz (actual)(294mhz effective) with 2.5-2-3-5 timings. The strange thing is, that should be roughly 2300MB/S Bandwith. But in numerous benchmarks, (Sandra, PCmark and more) the bandwith comes out at only 1800MB/s average. i have the timings as tight as they will go and stay stable. I cant run it any faster because it locks up. what can i do to improve RAM bandwith? I have tried everything i can think of. xD

To get the average of 1800mb/s, it needs to have hit the higher 2300 for at least half the time...

Don't put so much faith in benchmarking programs...they're a waste of time and pretty useless to be honest

Yes --they give you some idea of your perfomance... but any gamer site will tell you that benchmarks are no real indication of actual game perfomance. If you push your RAM too hard- you can end up with an unbootable PC

i know. I have pushed it too far and had to manually clear cmos numerous times. i dunno. it just seems kinda slow to lost half a gig per second of bandwith.oh well. sorry, i meant,that is not the average, the highet acheivalbe score was 1854mb/s.i meant average by finding the average of the 3 benchmarks i tried.

i also know that in alot of my games, (FS2004, Oblivion etc.) the main bottleneck is the GPU. and hte AGP4x interface with only a gig per second. that is slow. Oblivion might partially be the CPU and the RAM also due to amount of NPCs and size of towns

From what I've read ... when pushing it like that... you want to take it up very slowly, in stages, letting it stabilize in between "steps" for a day. This way you can get to higher clock speeds.It's true for RAM or CPU --- takes patience...and time and lots of cooling.
