Default Memory Upgrade

I just installed a 512 mem upgrade to my pc...

When system booted, no signs of new hardware icons popped up...

it appears to run a lot smoother...and I hear that sometimes the computer will auto configure the settings...is this the case here?

is there a way to see (control panel) if my pc is now running at 1024 MB ?
