I really desperately want to upgrade my RAM, optimally to 1 GB. But here are my questions:

1.) Based on the other information of my computer (processor, etc) how much RAM do you

think is optimal for me? What amound will improve my performance without overworking my

computer?

2.) Which brand should I order? Is there anything I should know about buying additional

RAM for my computer.

I am using Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2

Newegg.com - Patriot Signature Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail

I am pretty sure this is a double post.. Try to keep to one post as it confuses some of us

Not a double post anymore geek

Hi woohoo and welcome to PCHF

Could you not double post please, if you wish to move a thread from one forum to another send a private message to a moderator (like me).

Thanks

Chris

Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to erase the double post. It was an accident.

In any case, how do I find out the specs of the motherboard?

Just looking now woohoo

I will edit this post shortly so be sure to refresh

1. What do you use your PC for?

2. So that you don't have to get into loads of detail and jargon crucial have a ram advisor which has picked out the ram compatible with your system:

Computer memory upgrades for eMachines T6410 Desktop/PC from Crucial.com

If you wish to order from anywhere else then reply back and i can help you

Chris

Hey, I just wanna thank you for your help. A lot of other forums would probably have blown me off or called me a troll because I know it's pretty basic stuff to most computer gurus and advanced users. But I appreciate your patience with me and your great help, and I'm quite happy.
