Your spec looks more than good enough to use photoshop etc

when you say ages to load etc what exactly do you mean...

your GPU/MOBO/RAM will all effect rendering etc... how old is this install of windows?

i just installed it a month back after format...it has all updates upto feb 2007...and as for the security thing i use mcafee total protection, avg anti-spyware, spybot S&D and spyware blaster....i run a scan once a week n clean my registry too...so m pretty sure its sumthin else.

"ages to load" as in during my previous installation of windows the pages and other programs use to load faster then it is now

Firefox definitely hogs more resources than Internet Explorer (between 20MB and 40MB of memory in my case), but it's worth it. Just don't leave Firefox open when playing games or anything.
