Default computer doesn't register all DDR cards

Hi everyone,

I had 2X256MB memory cards in my computer and there is one slot left, can I install 1X512MB for a total 1GB of memory? When I insert the 512MB card and boot up the computer stops at a screen with all of the computers specs and hardware (grey screen, with grid lines separating info) I then have to power off. Do I need to go into bios before the computer boots to that screen? If so what do I need to do in the bios? Also when I use the 512 only, it boots to a frozen black screen. When putting the 512 ahead of the 2 X 256 I get the same Black screen.

I know the response will be to take back the 512MB, but if anyone can figure out my problem cheers to you.
1 X 512MB DDR PC3200 (Blitz brand)
2 X 256MB DDR PC3200 (Elixir and Samsung brands)
Pentium 4 2.60Ghz
Motherboard is MSI 3 slots available

Thank-you to any offers of help.

Hello Swizzle,

Welcome to PCHF,

Can you give me as much detail as you can from each stick of memory?

Also, have you tried with just the one 512 to see if you can boot?
