Exclamation 8gb flash repair help plz

hello there.

i recently bought an 8gb sony roxio flash (used), when i was buying it i checked it and ran defragmentation on it, ran standard scandisk and they all completed there with no error reports, even the populate option showed me the entire 8gb,

now the problem is that when ever the data im putting in it exceeds 180 or so mb the remaining data becomes corrupt and appears as 000000000000000.0000 folders, so i wasted alot of money on this flash,

can any1 plz help me out here, plz help me repair it via software or hardware. id really appreciate it, after this i cant afford another flash.

and plz dont tell me to take it back, acuse he wont take it back , he said that u had checked the flash there, now no refunds.

plz help me out if u want any info or pics of my flash configuration that i can capture from the scree let me know

i tried uding partition magic and disc manager and seagate partitioner but none of them seem to pick up my flash

Hey Faraz,

I apologize for the delay in getting to your thread. First of all, I would like to recommend that in the future, you do not purchase things like Flash drives second hand. You are putting yourself in a difficult position when they do not work, and purchasing them new is so inexpensive these days. So enough lecturing, let's see if we can help you resolve this.

Have you done any dianostics on this flash to make sure that the drive isn't corrupted?

Reformat the flash again, and then run chkdsk /r to check for bad sectors. That should tell you if in fact you bought a lemon.

Also, check in Device Manager, and see if there is either a red X or a yellow exclamation point.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

thanks for the reply ladygreenwitch and yes i have learnt my lesson, no more 2nd hand flashes for me, but the reason i did it was that in the market here flashes upto 4gb are available which are quite expensive and this 8gb was for almost half its price.

i dont know where to run chkdsk /r but i ran scandist on it quick search version and it said that it found no errors.

also davice manager shows no yellow or red markers with it .

im attaching 2 pics, one of the device manager and other of my flash , hope it helps

Hey Faraz,

To run chkdsk on your flash drive:

Go to Start, Run, and type in cmd hit Enter
At the command prompt, type in chkdsk Q: /r where QL us the drive letter for your flash drive.

What are all of those odd folders with the 0s? It looks to me as if you did not successfully format your drive. Make sure that there is no lock on the drive, some flash drives have a lock that renders them read only.

Looking forwrad to your reply,

TTFN
