Default pc occasionally stuffing up

Hey, just wondering if u guys could help me..not sure if this is a memory problem or not..
what happens sometimes is my pc will kind of freeze for a sec and then the everything i type will be in capitals, like the shift key is being constantly pressed down... and when im using MSN and this happens, it wont let me send stuff.... if i try selecting stuff say on my desktop, it will select and then if i select something again around 5 icons will all be selected... if i try to open a folder, about 5 folders will open, all of which i didnt open... this problem happens pretty randomly, but it seems to happen heaps (like every 5 minutes) when i start using programs like adobe photoshop illustrator etc... anyway the problem started happening i think after i upgraded my ram but thats also around the time i installed some new programs (not legit) so im not 100% sure.. i reinstalled my pc just yesterday and the problem has already popped up already.. anyway any help would be greatly appreciated
