Simple really, can I pop a stick of PC2700 RAM into a PC133 mobo?

I know some RAM speeds automatically scale down (like 3200 into 2700), but would it work all the way down to PC133?

Hi Jones, no PC2700 will not work with PC133. DDR SDRAM (PC2700) memory has 184 pins, where as SDRAM (PC133) has 168 pins.

Also to add - DDR can not fit into DDR2

ECC DDR will not work with non-ECC DDR slots
ECC DDR2 will not work with non-ECC DDR2 slots

It is true that some motherboards will allow pc2700 and pc3200 memory. I highly dout that PC133 would fit into a pc2700.

The memory sticks are actually different size - and motherboards have mostly stopped supporting 2 different types of memory slots on it...they make for slower boards and alot of compatability issues.

Yea ur right pc3200 would not work with a pc133.
