Hi Chris, welcome to the PCHF!

I've deleted your other post as it is in our rules not to double post.

One thing you can try is goto Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL). Select the Processes tab and fine explorer.exe and select End Task.

This will make you task bar and all your desktop icons disappear.
Without doing anything else, click on File -> Run -> type in cmd and goto the directory where you've stored the file. rename it through this, and you will be fine...you can also delete it through this.

If you don't know how to use cmd (same commands as DOS) reboot into safe mode and you should be able to do everything to it still.

hello chris8679

UNLOCKER 1.8.5 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB

This tool will unlock it even with bad file name. once it is unlocked you will beable to remove it in any way that you choose. I would suggest that it be done in safe mode incase this is something really bad masquerading as something else. In safe mode it will not be able to do much harm if it comes loose on you.

Thanks, but I don't concider one way better than another,,,It is what ever works to fix the issue. So maybe your way is a bit better than mine after all.

i didn't mean to step on you there. we posted at the same time!
or atleast what was the same time as I was looking up the file.

Thank you both very much, however, i downloaded the unlocker tool and i cannot use it because the file i am trying to remove is pretty clever and the only right click options that are on the drop down menu are: play, open, add to..., open with, and send to, and the only functions that work on this menu is play, which opens Windows Media Player, and shows 0:00 and does nothing, that is pretty much the only response i get when trying to do literaly anything to this file is the WMP, anything else just seems like nothing happened at all i have not tried the cmd prompt approach because i dont know how to get to the directory and change the file that way....???
