Default Physical Memory Drop

Ok so here is my problem, I get my windows/me loaded and it says in system information that i have roughly 350 mbs of physical memory. If I let the cpu sit idling, let screen saver come up, or exit a game that i loaded immediately after booting [while it was 350] it will drop to 120's and eventually get into Kb's and then it gives me 'not enough free space to run app.' What could cause this? I have run Deriks boot and nuke on my harddrive within the last few days. The only possible thing that i didnt do during OS install is format the hard drive. Plz help

Hi & welcome,

What is your Virtual Memory set to currently?

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click System.
3. On the Performance tab, click Virtual Memory.

If it is set low or not set to "Let Windows manage my virtual memory settings" then do the following and test.

4. Click to select the Let Windows manage my virtual memory settings. (Recommended) check box, and then click OK.
5. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

You could try setting the virtual memory to a manual size..say initial 64mb and maximum 512mb
