Hi everyone, firstly im new here so sorry if this is in any way against the "done thing".
I have some questions for anyone who knows stuff about RAM if thats o.k.

There are 3 Dimms of memory in my PC and ive written down all the stuff that is on each one.

My questions is, are they all working in harmony or do i need to get rid of one of them? My computer recognises i have 1.25gb RAM but having just bought a 512mb DDR dimm, its no faster.


Each time ive written exactly what is says on the memory stick, followed by some of the numbers on each of the black bits on the memory stick (sorry for not knowing technical phrases...)

o.k, here we go...

(1) Original with PC:

On Mem stick = 512MB PC2700 DDR
0430 N 3 9 6 8 0

On black bits = 0429 in every topright hand corner


(2) First purchase

On Mem Stick = PC2700u 25331 Z
256MB DDR333 CL2.5

On black bits = 0504 in every top left corner


(3) Recent purchase

On Mem Stick = PC2700u 25331 B1
512MB DDR333 CL2.5 ECC

On Black Bits = 0450 in every top left.





I hope this all means something to someone and any help would be greatly appreciated.

they should all be working fine together as they are the same speed, I.E. pc2700.
You probably wont notice much increase in speed after 1GB unless you open alot of high end programs or games.

one thing that you should also look at is your motherboards manual if you have it. and check to see the recommended configurations for the memory as some motherboards only work well with specific setups regarding the RAM
