What was the location of the file? Was it C:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Help Center/ahc.exe ?

You could give this a go:

For Photoshop_9.0_en-us.zip:

1. Download:

www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows

EDIT: direct linking doesn't work , see link at the bottom of this page instead:

http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/319210.html

2. Unzip and save the Help package to the package folder in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Help Center/AdobeHelpData.

Default ahc.exe file location(s)

Yes, that was the location of one file. The other file was:

C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\AHC.EXE-)b1F4764.pf

I will also try to download and reinstall from the Adobe site, even though the error message seems different than my error message.

Thanks for hanging in there with me...

I get to Step 4 of Solution ! of the Adobe Support Knowledge Base and I get the same error message re memory when I try to Manually launch the Adobe Help Center file. (AHC,exe)

Do you think my memory is bad, that is to say--my computer's memory?

Nah , i doubt its youre ram. If it only happends with Photoshop , and then also only when pressing the help function then it must be something with the app.

Maybe it is an idea to try to reinstall Photoshop?
