Default Memory Upgrade Gone Wrong

Hey,
I recently have become fed up with my computer's speed, and so I wanted to buy some more memory. I went to HP's website (I have an HP Paviliona365c) and it had a convient memory finder. So I punched in my computer, and it reccomended http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...e=P5300U%23ABA
So, I tried to install it, but it started to smoke...The only visible damage on the memory is a bit of black coloration on the gold section on the bottom (not sure what it's called). Is my memory still good, or is it bad? Also, is this really the right memory for my computer ( I already have 2x256 in there now)?
Thanks a ton,
Connor707

I can't find a Pavillion 365c in the list for memory on the HP site

O, sorry about that, I forgot to add a space. Its a Pavilion a365c, so look in the A-Series Desktops. That fooled me at first too.
Thanks,
