that suggestion about incresing virtual memory, will that make the PC run a lil faster?

Yes, but not as much as buying more RAM.

Right click on "My Computer" and select properties > advanced tab > Performance settings button > advanced tab > hit the "change" button at the bottom > put a dot next to "System managed size" and press the "set" button. Select ok and re-boot.

Question Before I buy my new memory...

Right I'm just about to buy a new 512mb stick of memory for the PC, is this the max amount I can get or can I get more, might as well buy as much as I can in one go!
