Default PC2100 and PC2700

I am looking to upgrade my DDR ram to over 1 GB, but i don't know which is the best ram out there. I have looked to see that my current ram is PC2100 but would it be ok to buy PC 2700 or even higher?

welcome to PCHF Alex,

to answer this quest you need ot check your motherboard manual. some motherboards are not able to go above their recommeded speed.

Thanks for the welcome.
I haven't got my motherboard manual, but i can tell what PC i have if it will help?
I have an emachines 770 and i've looked on the internet to see if it is compatible, but i can't find anything.

Looks like youre motherboard supports up to 2 gb of pc2100 ddr ram.
