Question memory problem

Hi all

I have just tried to install 512mb of new sdram into my motherboard, but its causing me some problems. My motherboard has three dimm slots each takeing 512 in each, slot 1 has 256,slot2 has 512,as it stands this is working fine.but when i add the new 512 stick to slot 3 i get a blue warning screen shutting down windows incase of damage with some information which reads irql_not_less_not_equal.memory sticks in slot 1 and 2 have black chips on both sides i think ther low density, the new 512mb is definetly high density, and it only has chips along one side.i tried it on its own and it seams to work fine but add it along side the origional two and the problem occurs.

any help on this matter would be greatly apreciated thanks.

ps all chips are pc 133 133mhz

Do you know if the HD ram stick has different timings than the other 2?

Unhappy

Hi Merlin
thanks for the reply, here's what i've found.
the 256 has timings of 133/100/mhz,the 512 has timings of 142/133/mhz.the new 512 stick has timings of 133/133mhz,now this is where im really getting confused,i tried the two 512sticks in slot one and two and every thing works fine ,but add the 256 to slot three and system crashes, it seems that 512 and 512 works,512 and 256 work but all three at the same time cause problems, yet the dimm slots can take up to 512 in each .
