I have this motherboard
http://www.asrockamerica.com/Products/P4v88p.htm

and i currently have 512mb ddr sdram pc 2700

I want to upgrade to 1gb or more at least and i found this on newegg

is it possible to mix 2 different type of memory chips together
2x512mb pc2700 + 2x512mb pc3200

or should i just put the 1gb(or more in) and just take out the 512 i got

my computer specs as of now are

Intel Pentinum 4/HT tech 2.8Ghz
512 mb ram (pc 2700)
160GB hard drive
Asrock Pv488+ mobo

Hello itszztom,


the motherboard may support memory of a higher performance than already fitted. Some chipsets will happily mix memory technologies, but it might not be the safest thing to do. if you have the motherboard manual read it and see if it is ok. your best bet would be to buy a new set of the same type you already have.
