i took the RAM out and turned on the PC and it seemed to turn on properly coz the on switch lit up and a light on the motherboard seemed to turn on... does this mean its just the RAM thats buggered?

Hard to say , can you maybe borrow a compatible stick of ram to test that?

you were all correct, it was my motherboard (got a new one!) now i just gotta find out what ram it takes... i need my 512mb! thank alot for the help (again)

Sorry to hear that , but thanks for letting us know.

If you post the brand and model of the motherboard then im sure one of us can tell you what ram you need. (but remove the powercord from the pc this time when installing)

is that it? im hoping the 133 means it takes SD RAM 133MHZ 168 PIN (but i have no idea what im talking:smiley thanks so much yet again, saviors.
