Default RAM mixing

How about these 2 different types of RAM?

In my system now: 2x 256MB Kingston HyperX DDR434 CAS 2.0
Want to add: 2x 512MB Kingston ValueRAM DDR400 CAS 2.5

This wouldn't have happened if the price of HyperX had dropped only about 20 dollars in 2 years....

I can set the HyperX to run at 400MHz, but I was wondering about the differences in CAS settings. Would HyperX be forced up to 2.5 or would ValueRAM be forced down to 2.0? Will this affect system stability or performance?

The RAM is on a MSI 875P mobo by the way.

Thanks.

Hey there Bear

Would HyperX be forced up to 2.5 or would ValueRAM be forced down to 2.0
After browsing the web it seems like the 2.5 will be forced down to 2.0, there have been no comments about the stability though.

The only way to see how stable it is would be to try it. At the end of the day it won't damage anything.

Here is a short explanation of CAS:
