Memory - [FIXED] - ram not redgestering... posted in the Hardware forums; well i originaly had my 256 and 512, i got my hands on anouther 512 and i wanted to try it out, and i put it in and it said ...

well i originaly had my 256 and 512, i got my hands on anouther 512 and i wanted to try it out, and i put it in and it said i only had 512, i should have 1286... so i took the 512 out, and put it how i originaly had it, and now it stil says i only have 512... and i should have 768... help...

These problems normally occur if the RAM chips are of different make / speed.
Take a look at the chips and make sure they are all the same, you should be looking for something like PC 100 or PC 133.

Otherwise try and put the two 512 chips in at the same time and see what speed it shows up as.

You can also put 1 chip in at a time and see what they show up as.

mad gamer what do you mean is it displayign correctly in bios... i went to bios to see if anything thatcould mess it up was disabeled or somthing, but it all looked good, could you tell me what you mean by that?

and zimbo, is thair an app that will tell me what the speeds are... i honestly dont feel like opening it up again and risking somthing elce bad happening? i know that is nubish but i have had many bad experiances.

Another reason it might not be registering is because you put it in backwards.
