i recently ugraded my ram to 2gb from 1gb and since have been having problems with windows realising it has an extra gig of ram to use... when using memory intensive games like bf2 windows prefers to use over a gig of virtual memory and leave 800mb odd of ram empty.... ive tried disabling my page files but that doesnt work, ive tried setting the size to 0, setting it at 300mb per disk (i have two raid 0 configs) but the page file remains in use and windows still wants to fill that up before my ram.

any ideas on how to solve this annoying problem? i would greatly appreciate any help given.

Does windows regoqnize the 2 gig ram?? Performance and Maintenance/system properties.

And the virtual memory settings shoudn't matter since the pagefile only gets used when you run out of real ram.

Also in wich slots do you have the sticks?

windows recognises the ram- it does use some but prefers to use 1gb of pagefile rather than using all available ram first. all memory slots on the motherboard are full (4 x 512mb). not sure whats going on....

Is your page file on another partition or disk? It best to always have a page file. Some programs will not work without one. Even if you have 30 gigs of ram. Window's will always use both it wont let you go beneath a certain% of your installed ram. If your page file is on another partition(recomended) I would set the min and max at 1024. seems this is the best setting no matter what ram you have installed
