Greetings and Salutations everyone.
The original issue here was a 0x00000008E Stop error...in windows ME and previous (98, 95, 3.1)
BSOD were as common as anything and didn't mean alot. The smallest bump could cause it to go off.
Windows NT, 2000, XP and Vista are all ahelofalot more stable and as such...when you see a
BSOD, it generally indicates something bad. Each Stop Code has a meaning...this one in particular indicates that the
RAM being used has an error. If you believe you may have faulty
RAM, please goto
Memtest86 - Memory Diagnostic Page and follow the instructions on the page. Any error what-so-ever discovered in this program, will cause all sorts of problems (visible or not) to anything Windows NT based.
If you are receiving any other Stop Error codes, please create a new post, and give us the exact error number. It will help us specify what the problem is and get your computer up and running faster.
