Default [Answered] mixed ram

Hi
My motherboard (asus a7v8x mx, bios 100 uses PC2700 (333) RAM. Can i use PC3200 (400) and above RAM? Will it work? will it be as fast as the PC2700 ram?

the reason i ask is that 2700 ram is going up in price AU $95 for 256 mb and i can get PC 3200 512 mb for AU$50

any help is great

You could use the RAM together YES, but I wouldn't recommend it.

You can normally encounter problems when running two different types of RAM together and all the RAM will work as fast as the slowest chip.

My recommendation to you would be to buy 2 of the PC 3200 512 mb, you might be able to get a deal for buying two, and then sell off your PC2700.

yes that was my plan. I just wasn't sure if pc 3200 RAM would run, and it wouldn't be slow.
I wasn't going to run the 2700 and 3200 together.

thanks for your reply

No Problem,

The machine will run the 3200 RAM, I have found the manual for your board here.
