Be aware of this angle though.

AVG Free - Download installation files & documentation

You can get it for free providing you pay for some scummy mail shot type purchases.

Knowing I was going to reformat, I downloaded AVG-9 free from their website link.

After I reinstalled Windows, my next task was to install AVG9 before I went on the internet.

I was absolutely astonished that even though I downloaded it, it requires you to go on the internet unprotected to download the rest.

Check this for yourself, if you find this hard to believe.

What was in AVG's mind when they devised the set up for AVG-9 free?
I got the same skinny "installer" version – didn't work, told me I didn't have an internet connection (yeah – right)
If you go to the AVG site (and wade through about 4 screens trying to get you to pay) you can get the full file – eventually – 72.5MB
A couple of quotes from the Whirlpool Windows Forum where there are a lot of unhappy campers re AVG 9.0...

I posted a thread about this a week or so ago but, the more the merrier I say. I've had no issues so far but spent a couple hours last week sorting out a friend's PC that wouldn't install it due to not being able to remove the old version

hello all
there apparently lurks an issue on install/upgrade on some computers
saying about conflicting software "please remove ole 1 of 5" this apparently is some sort of registry error and can be ignored and dealt with by editing/deleting according to the manager of avg forum link here AVG Forums - Some Application Is Listed Many Times As Incompatible (S3GSetup)

initial link found via here AVG Forums - What is "OLE (Part 1 of 5)" ?

this may assist those coming to pchf with this error
