I read that thanks to a link provided in an earlier post by JB. 40 years ago I couldn't spell Internet, now I 'R' one. Good story......

If memory serves, before the proliferation of the Internet machine people were 'forced' to speak face to face, kids ventured outside the house for no other reason than to inadvertently get excersize from riding bicycles/skateboards/pogo sticks/etc., playing stick-and-ball games, climbing trees, and other stuff. In the illustrious words of Jimmy Buffett, "Life is (was) Just a Tire Swing".

Fresh air in the lungs.

Building resistance to various diseases by playing in the back yard and rolling around in the dirt.

Standing in a fresh cow pat to warm the feet up on a frosty morning.

Getting some sunshine on your body.

Developing an imagination by reading books.

I could keep on with this list, but what would I know? I'm not young enough to know it all...

Ah sweet memories. Forty years ago I was about to sign up in HM's army (Signals). Those were the days. 4 ton lorries (trucks) stacked with comms equipment and 40ft antenna masts. Lots of people think military stuff as archaic but we had some pretty nifty stuff for the day.

In the mid 80's I was a tech with Texas Instruments and we had some huge stuff there too. I remember having to change discs on the IBM 3340. 30mb of data on a disc pack the size of an oil drum. Now I've got a thousand times that hanging on a key chain. How times change.
