I could not agree more--with the PSU being under-rated as far as importance to a PC.
I always make the analogy to a house-- with the PSU being the foundation of that house.
If you build a house on a weak/crooked foundation... what happens? Everything else in the house is crooked. Doors won't close right, windows stick, etc. It could even collapse.

The PSU is not "sexy" hardware like fancy video cards, or superfast CPU's or tons of RAM-- but if you have all those "sexy" parts and they won't work as advertised because of weak power... what good are they??

muahah cobracon I have the 750 watt version of your PSU : ) I can't wait to get it in the mail!! I think the reason why my old PSU blew out was because my Video Card (x1950 pro 512mb AGP) was sucking 30 amps out of an 18 amp rail lol, which was also runinng my CD drive, DVD drive, HDD, and water pump and radiator fan. The other 12 volt rail was running 5 case fans, and 2 UV cathodes... talk about unbalanced!! haha : )

Mine's a bit newer then that

It's funny how people always think they need big PSUs, you really don't, a 350W will power a decent system no problem.

Just becomes more wasted energy..

Add to that the fact your PSU, if bought correctly, isn't running at or near it's total output so it has the potential of lasting longer. It's like the difference in you running everywhere and walking everywhere.

Also, just stating an efficiency rating without the PSU load AND operating temperature is worthless information.

Take that to the bank....................

I just HAD to fix the misspelled words!! OCD strikes again............
