Default Ebay Horror Stories:

I recently decided to get all my new computer parts from ebay. That was my first mistake, with more to come. To keep things short I'll tell you about the bad items(4 good). I bought a e6750 CPU and it arrived promptly and at a decent price. It was guarenteed angainst DOA(used). I recieved it(are computer chips supposed to have chips and dings?), put it in my board and "poof" goes the board. So now I have a DOA $145 e6750 and a non working motherboard. I e-mailed the seller, he agreed to take it back, all seemed well. I sent it back via USPS(could make another horror stories thread with that one). At the same time I sent that item out to Chicago I also sent a package to Washington. I live in Cincinnati. The Washington item arrived about 5 days later, however, the e6750 has not arrived in Chicago yet. It's been 3 weeks. He "honestly" did not recieve it. Second mistake, no tracking number(or was it using USPS?).

Third mistake, I bought a PSU from ebay. The user was selling a "Brand New, Sealed Antec TP3 650watt". I purchased, it showed up. I opened the package and pulled out a super duper awesome used Antec Neo 480watt PSU. Boy was I happy. This guy says he will pay me back. I am definately going to track this item when I ship it via UPS.

Conclusion: I probably will never know for sure if the seller of the CPU recieved it or if the USPS lost it. Unfortunately for ebay and the USPS I will never use either one of them again. In order to ease my pain, I would love to hear stories of your suffering, so please tell me your horror stories.

Aside from getting 1 bad stick for every 3 sticks of memory I've bought off ebay I can't complain, I built my computer with parts from ebay, stuff from spare computers, and a big birthday present (my motherboard, which was bought new, and my processor which came off ebay).
Bought off ebay:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Processor
Heatsink/fan for above
Seagate 160gb HD
Hitatchi 82gb HD
Pioneer 18x DVDRW Drive
PCMCIA Card Reader
Removable IDE Rack that holds Hitatchi drive
USB 2.0 hub
Hercules 500w PSU
3com Network card
TP-Link Wireless card
NVIDIA FX5200 gfx card
One 80mm fan
One slot fan (it occupies the vacant slot above my gfx card)

From spare/old computers
My soundcard and memory came from our old dell computer (circa 2001-02ish)
My 80gb Seagate HD came from a computer at work, my boss insisted the HD was bad and I replaced it for him, it's perfectly fine though so I scored a free HD...

Bought new from store:
Gigabyte GA K8NS-Pro motherboard (my b-day present since my old cheapo GA 7IXEH died...)
One 80mm fan from Altex, just because I was there, it was $5 and I had the space for another...
The case and floppy drive are the only things that were in this computer when I got it that I still have...

All of my equipment works fine for me, sorry I can't share your misery though

I'm not even going to start because I'd be typing for days. "I hate eBay" I'll leave it at that

I`ve never had a problem with Ebay so far but i bought a Pc tower from a shop that had an advert on Wightbay.com, a classifieds website for the Isle Of Wight (like Ebay but you dont have to bid) , apparantley it was a dual core 3.2ghz but when i got it home i realised it had a Pentium 4 chip in!! Needless to say i`ll be going back there today to take names and dispense some vigilante style justice lol
