I'll have to take your word on the WOW factor guys. My exwife got the tv and all that stuff so there hasn't been a tv in my house since july of 1999. I'm waiting for VR before I shell out the big bucks...

Personally I'm waiting to see who comes out on top before buying a dedicated player, I have a TV capible of 1080i and use an xbox HD DVD drive (which I got for like £50) with my PC to play HD DVD's and it does look nice but not that much difference from using an upscaling DVD player.

From what I can tell though Bluray has more backing so far.
