The EEEPC is fantastic, I had a chance to use one the other day, it's not the most powerful thing in the world but it's great for surfing/chatting/typing out a quick doc, the default Linux installation surprised me, it's very easy to use, it takes a bit of fiddling to get XP running on there at a decent level, but other than that, great!
I'm thinking of buying one just to carry around with me and I can tether to my phone so I have internet connection anywhere, they're also going to bring out a minipci HSDPA card so you can get a decent connection anywhere on your 'cell' phone plan, no tethering needed
It's also great for when I visit family, that and a 2.5" usb drive, no more carrying a huge(by comparison) laptop.
