I was thinking about this the other day.
Im thinking of going to a mac for college, prolly a macbook pro or something- just because i hear the reliability is great- if you guys have any comments about how mac sucks and other stuff id love to hear it before i waste my money
but i have a question

Mac has stuff like ichat and other stuff that only works for them. Will windows ever get stuff like that. Their own browser, chat tool, managing software, etc? Lets face it- Microsoft could kill apple if they didnt give apple office and the like. So why doesnt microsoft keep some things to themselves.

My quickest and best opinion about Macs would be to get a Mac that uses an Intel processor and install Windows on it.

Then you get the super high quality long lasting durable components of Mac....and the convenience of having Windows and it's vast selection of compatible software.

Or...you could build your own PC for much less, have good components, and have much better specs for the same price

There really is no end to the PC vs Mac question...

As far as your last question, the reason Microsoft doesn't keep its operating system closed off is because they want to actually make money. If Macs would have just used the same type of CPUs as PCs and let more companies make software for use with Macs, then they would have been much more of a powerhouse. That is why Microsoft has such a huge marketshare in the operating system industry.

Macs are just annoying...they want to make everyone use just Mac stuff.

And I'm done...

this isnt a question of who is better i use windows. I think if longhorn had come out instead of vista, there would be no argument- windows would be the best.... but lets face it, what do we get as windows users- aol? windows media player? internet explorer (available to mac)

Having only used PC, I shouldn't really comment. However, in terms of compatibility with software and chat facilities, which do you think is going to be better? (bare in mind that your mates might not be using the same software etc). Also if things go wrong with your machine, then you would need to use colleges stuff, so would everything that you have backed up work on their machines?
