Hi there,

Im looking at buying a new laptop on ebay. Gotta be on ebay as I live in Japan. Could buy here but they seem to be cheaper from ebay even after postage plus it will come with an English vesion of Windows.

I mainly use my PC for playing PC games. Nothing too serious, mainly stuff like Winning Eleven and GTA. Plus Im also planning on getting a Camcorder so Id like to run some video editing software.

Looking at spending no more than $900 including postage. Id appreciate any advice anyone can give. I found a HP Pavilion DV632US for $800 with pretty nice specs. Is this a nice laptop? Whats the drawback if any of buying something thats been refurbished.

Appreciate any tips.

Could you give me a link to the page on eBay please, and generally speaking, if something has been refurbished, it is normally because it was faulty, or it used to be used a a rental, or they just never got sold before they were outdates, if it comes with a warranty from HP itself, and is sold by a respectable dealer, it will be in very good condition, normally almost good as new.

but, with refurbished things make sure that they have a warranty, most refurbished laptops, though, i think are ex-rentals, that have been restored, there is also a chance that the one that you get could have been refurbished after breaking down, which is why you should get one with warranty, if you give me a look at that ebay page i can give you an opinion on the specs

Well this seems a fairly good laptop, and by the looks its not a refurb, its new, but i would like to point out that it has an Nvidia video card, but it is not that fast it should play winning eleven just fine, i dont know about GTA though, since i dont know which one you are talking about, i dont know but i can assume that it would run GTA:SA well with things at a lowish setting from my experiance with a 5200 which is probably about half the speed of the one in there, and if it's GTA:VC or less then it will definately run it

as for video editing it has a firewore port, and it would run the required software, so as far as that goes you should be fine
