Default Just washed my cell phone...

Nice knowing you guys, I'm dead within the next three hours...

I washed my pants because I spilled some stuff on them. I thought I had emptied all the pockets, but I forgot to pull my cell phone from my cargo pocket. I put my pants in to try, when I hear this *thump, thump, thump* and go to see what it was. Then it dawns on me that my cell phone was in there.

It is a Motorola Razr... I have taken out the battery and SIM card and am going to let it dry out for a couple of days and pray it works. After that, I might check with Cingular and see about a new phone. Failing that, there's always eBay, because I can't afford a new phone until my contract next December, and I can't wait that long.

So, any advice on how not to die when my parents find out?

"I didn't put it in there! It must have jumped back in when it realized that its calculator friend was all alone!" (yes, I washed my calculator too. I'm having a really bad day now.)

Well, I did accidentally wash it... But that's still not going to fly. I'm getting ready to call Cingular and see what they have to say.

It may be able to be saved--but you would probably have to have it cleaned professionally. Most cellphone keypads are like a calculator underneath-- that "rubber" sheet type material with what feels like buttons embedded in it (magnetic ?)--directly under that is a printed circuit-board. ANY residue on that board = poor contact. Radio Shack does them for about $40 US.

Note-- If you survive-- you can add handset insurance for about $5 per month added to your bill -- protects against loss/theft-- and maybe damage too (not sure-- ask?)
