I belong to another forum(rugby one)
and we have a persistant idiot trouble is registration is lapse and all the mods get is an ip addresss ,question is can he be traced from this?

You could ask an Admin on that site to just ban the I.P. , then he/she can't access the forums anymore. (unless he/she is smarter then the average "idiot", lol)

But no, you can't get a name and address, just ask the MPAA/RIAA ect. and they'll tell you that you can't.

You can trace his IP address...at least back to his ISP...but that won't really do much for you.


Start -> cmd -> tracert <insert ip address here>

You can use websites like Ip Global Positioning or Welcome to RIPE.NET to get some info and map that IP address, but is not much to do.
