Unhappy Converting my videos files

Hi,
I want to convert my .MWV and Quick Time and Fash Player files to something that will play on my DVD player so they can be watched on the TV. The files just mentioned will not play except on the computer.

Does anyone have an opinion as to the right kind of file to convert to?
The DVD Player seems to recognize MPEG files but When I converted a few to MPEG and played them back, I noticed the sound was "out of sync" with the music.

Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated by this computer novice.
Thank you.

Howdy there DoctorGallop and welcome to the forums.

We have a great team here and I am sure someone will be able to offer you some good advice.

Personally I find it a mission to convert files, especially Quicktime, if you do manage to then you normally either lose picture quality or, as you have already experienced, lose syncronization between the sound/video.

Do you know what video card you are running and whether it has a RF out port (yellow) on it?

If you do then you should be able to connect this to your TV and plays your movies from the computer on your TV, that is of course if your PC is in the same room?

Thank you for answering my post my friend.
I am running a very slow and old DELL 485Mhz, Pentium 2 and its straing to run Windows XP as it is. So I'm not sure about running it to the TV. But what a great idea if I could. Then I could record right on to DVD!

If you have time maybe you could check out the link to the program I am using.
I'm not the "sharpest tack in the box" when it comes to computers, so I would appreciate your opinion of it.

I have used that program in the past, out of interest do you have the trial version or have you purchased the full thing?

Only using the trial version. I was considering buying it until I sent the same question I asked here in the Forum to thier "support team". Wow! that was a mistake.
My dog could have given me a better answer! They acted like they had no idea what I was talking about!
Thank goodness for PC Help Forum .Com
